Salted Earth - A photographic exhibition
Ten images provide a framework within which to experience the moment that precedes the point of no return. Bravery and vulnerability linger comfortably, playfully and powerfully in the presence of thick salty air, salt water and salted earth. We explore the idea of salt becoming a dominant element over air or water. Walking along an isolated beach on a skeleton of coast, enveloped in thick mist, barren of life, the character is consumed with thoughts of events and emotions that leave a toxic trace within. It's as if the earth she grew from was salted. As was the air, of which she is an extension.
She walked the line…nothing we could have said or done would have changed anything. It’s as if the earth upon which she walked was salted. In search for her essence her journey had become elemental but salt rather than water was the element driving her.
Story and deeply authentic character narrative is central to my work. I create images which inspire different endings, like a choose-your-own adventure book, based ever so loosely on reality. I find characters in between places, thoughts and feelings.
